The aim of the project isfor each person \u201cto become the best version of themselves\u201d by supporting themin various activities within the local community. Match and Mentor supportindividuals to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Access supported volunteering opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend local social activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Take part in training and learning opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn basic living skills within their own home.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other activities of their choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Local volunteering activities that are carried out by the beneficiaries include outdoor allotment and gardening projects, conservation groups, older people\u2019s homes, libraries, museums and community groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The role of the volunteer can vary considerably day-to-day as well as develop throughout the placement. Core activities for the volunteers include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting beneficiaries to access a variety of community activities and promoting their independence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Volunteering alongside beneficiaries at their volunteer placements while motivating and engaging them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting beneficiaries to learn new skills and tasks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listening to and empathizing with our beneficiaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helping build the self-confidence and self-esteem of both you and ourbeneficiaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being a consistent and reliable source of support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteers are working directly with the beneficiaries on a daily basis and activities can take place outside (in all weathers), in community centres and in people\u2019s homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Match and Mentor is a Project based in West Norfolk, that supports individuals with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
