Pesantren are Islamic boarding schools where students combine formal education with daily religious studies. They live in dormitories, follow a structured routine, and learn values such as discipline, simplicity, and solidarity. Volunteers support English learning, interactive activities, and cultural exchange while gaining insight into Islamic education. Supporting teachers, organizing activities, sharing the volunteer’s culture, leading interactive English sessions, and motivating students to use English through non-formal activities.

Short Rindang Asih 1 is a nursing home for elderly women in Ungaran, located in a cooler mountain area. It hosts 29 residents with different levels of independence, from fully active to bedridden. Volunteers support daily care and help create a positive environment. Helping staff with cleaning, feeding, bathing and cooking, organizing simple workshops and entertainment activities, and participating in daily routines. Rindang Asih 1 es un hogar de ancianas en Ungaran con 29 mujeres que requieren distintos niveles de atención. Los voluntarios apoyan el cuidado diario y contribuyen a un ambiente seguro y agradable.Ayudar en limpieza, alimentación, aseo y cocina, organizar actividades recreativas y colaborar en tareas diarias del centro.

Some activities are: Rindang Asih 1 Elderly is one of elderly in Ungaran under the coordination by Soegijapranata Pastoral Semarang. This nursing home is located in Ungaran around 20 km away from Semarang city where Dejavato’s office is located and which lies on the slope of Ungaran Mountain, so the climate is cooler. In Rindang Asih 1 elderly, there are 29 women elderly who lives there which helps by some local staffs. There are 3 types of the elderly; Type A to Type C. Type A is those who can do working like the normal one. While Type B is those who can do some work in the nursing homes. And Type C is those who cannot do anything just lying on the bed or the wheel chair so they need help to do anything. There are 29 elderly and all of them are ladies. VOLUNTEER TASKS & ROLES To organize and assist local staffs daily task such as cleaning, feeding etc; To contribute to the organization of non-formal workshops; To organize activities that will entertain the elderly; To get involve in various project’s activities; Assisting the local staffs trough showering, giving food, preparing food and cooking for the elderly For more information download the PDF

This project takes place in a special needs school in Bali that serves deaf and intellectually disabled students from primary to senior high school. Students receive both general education and practical life skills such as crafts, cooking, dance and beauty. The aim is to provide quality education and useful future skills. Assisting teachers with hands-on activities, supporting motor and skill development, helping in class with lessons and homework, creating interactive activities, and promoting intercultural learning through dialogue, music and games.

Semarang Baby & Teen Orphanage

The project takes place in an orphanage in Semarang that hosts around 80 children from infants to university age. Staff are limited, so volunteers support daily care, learning and activities. The orphanage aims to provide a safe home, education and basic life skills to help children become independent. Caring for babies and children, supervising play, helping with homework, teaching English and hygiene, organizing games and outings, monitoring school progress, and assisting with meals and daily hygiene routines.

El proyecto se desarrolla en un hogar que protege a bebés y madres embarazadas en situación de riesgo. Con 23 bebés y poco personal, los voluntarios apoyan en el cuidado diario y la atención básica. El objetivo es ofrecer un entorno seguro hasta que el bebé pueda regresar con su familia o crecer bajo el cuidado del hogar. Cuidar bebés, apoyar en alimentación, higiene y rutinas diarias, preparar comida, lavar utensilios, organizar actividades simples y ayudar en la cocina.

The project involves schools and a university that teach various foreign languages.
