Innisfree Village is a fully licensed, residential community with adults with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1971, this nonprofit, nonsectarian, therapeutic farm community is located on 550 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside the university town of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Innisfree Village is a model therapeutic environment with people with intellectual disabilities,emphasizing empowerment, interdependence, and mutual respect of all community members
Some activities are:
- The volunteer serves as a residential caregiver to a small groups of residents
- Facilitates in therapeutic workstations
- Oversees the upkeep and maintenance of the house in which they live, including
- budget
- Completes written reports and participates in other community activities and events
